To make amends for a big mistake I’d done over the weekend (forgot about a date…) I took my good buddy out to a nice restaurant, and then to a bar to relax. Now, don’t you hate it when the perfect evening gets ruined through no fault of your own? Our time spent in the restaurant was lovely, we both had a great time. Things went horribly wrong when we visited a pub where Karaoke (we didn’t know) night was just beginning….Oh boy.
We weren’t facing the stage so we had no idea. One minute we were enjoying ourselves chatting away (roughly below), and then the following happened:
Me: "Yeah, I dunno. Kids nowadays just don’t have the respect that previous generations of kiddies had"
Taz: "I wonder what you’d be like with kids!"
Me: "I’d be fine with em, kinda grew up around them as my mum was a childminder"
Taz: "hmmm <insert cheesy smile>"
Me: "what?"
Taz: "Nothing!"
Me: "Why you staring at me like that?"
Taz: "Well…."
<Some pleb on stage behind us starts singing, LOUD>
Pleb: "#From the very first moment I saw you, That’s when I knew, All the dreams I held in my heart, Had suddenly come true…#"
<Both of us turn around to see said pleb half drunk trying to sing David Gray - Be Mine.>
Me: "Uhm"
Pleb: "#Come on baby it’s all right, Sunday Monday day or night!#"
Taz: "hmmm"
Pleb "# What’s the difference anyway, Baby till your heart belongs to me#"
Me: "Hate Karaoke…"
<Both of us leave>
Thanks Pleb! You ruined our night with slurred lyrics that made both of us bloomin uncomfortable! Ah well, at least it wasn’t James "Mah life is brilliant" Blunt.
