It will take the Uk by storm
It’s a step change in television technology which provides far clearer and more detailed pictures than normal "standard definition" TV. The benefits are especially suited to larger LCD and plasma display screens. Basically HD is transmitted digitally. Each step in the transmission chain must be high definition to produce the end result on your screen. So you will need a HD decoder box to decode the incoming signals, as well as a HD Ready TV in the first place so you can actually see the pictures. Sounds simple right? Well there’s a lot more to it then the above, and it can get very confusing. Riyad at Trusted Reviews has a brilliant round up of exactly what to expect from this upcoming HD era.
it wont take it by storm, it’ll be like DVD players give it 5 years and it’ll then start taking hold as prices drop as they stand they’re simply too damn expensive
Arr, depends. Right now the tv’s are more or less replacing conventional ones in most electrical stores, so those newer sets will hit households quickly enough. BBC are already trialing a HD service which began in July 2006.
So they’ll be pumping in a lot of resources to make it take off and I think it can happen.
Taken from the bbc:
“The BBC’s HD programmes are free to anyone who has the right equipment – an “HD Ready” display and satellite or cable HD service and set top box. The BBC HD trial will last about 12 months and have an end date so we can assess how it has gone.”
I’m planning to get two HDTV’s by the end of the year hopefully. A 28″ or 32″ one for my room, and a 40″ for downstairs yay
Then the HD-DVD addon for the 360
I’ve got a pioneer hdtv already
We’re just awaiting our skyhd box to arrive and get setup now
Darren stop buying crap for your parents and get a house of your own!! number of times I’ve heard you say “I had money to spend” is unreal! /slap
Gerroff! Need to get the biggest screen for my parents so the so called relations can ’stfu’ about their minute lcd screens! Fat chance of buying a house over here anyway, with house prices already miles out of my range, my best chance of a house will be in teh Isle O Wight
move to scotland you could buy a few houses up here, one for you and one for your cat
I want one of the larger sized lcd’s later in the year. Right now I just think they’re way too overpriced, as well sa the technology which is moving at too great a pace. I’ll wait until Xmas 2006 when prices should crash.
Don’t move to Scotland! Come and stay in Mancs wiv me!
