Right now the tv's are more or less replacing conventional ones in most electrical stores, so those newer sets will hit households quickly enough. BBC are already trialing a HD service which began in July 2006. So they'll be pumping in a lot of resources to make it take off and I think it can happen. Taken from the bbc: "The BBC's HD programmes are free to anyone who has the right equipment – an "HD Ready" display and satellite or cable HD service and set top box. The BBC HD trial will last about 12 months and have an end date so we can assess how it has gone." I'm planning to get two HDTV's by the end of the year hopefully.
