I’m free! Since it’s release on the 30th January I’ve been tinkering around with Windows Vista and generally being driven mad by it’s quirks. On the upside I’ve found this operating system rather refreshing to use over stale XP. I’ve also been taking down notes on my experiences and have written an article on what Windows XP users can expect when they make the transition to this bloatastic OS.
Now that this write up is out of the way, and my system is semi stable, I can finally get back to writing games reviews, which I’m well behind on right now.

Jesus! Nice article about vista. very well written.
Hi there, I liked your article, good work
I am still using XP Home because I only have 1gb of ram on my system, but I would like to try Vista. Do you think I could use that Readyboost feature to help my lack of ram? I have 2 1GB Corsair sticks here, which are vista certified. Thanks!
Hi Ahmed,
It really depends on the rest of your system and it’s specs. 1GB ram is enough to run the OS, but 2GB is best in the long run. I’ve seen 1GB systems running Vista Business fine.
As for ReadyBoost, it does make a difference but just remember that it is no substitute for real ram. It won’t make up for the lack of ram though, ReadyBoost is just a special cache for some OS components, but it can help speed up execution time of apps/games. Hope that helps mate.
I enjoyed the read on your article thank you. I am a Vista basic user here as I cannot afford the home premium package just yet. I find it ok as an operating system (my last one was windows 98) and I look forwards to playing some dx10 games later in the year when I upgrade this computer.
