Very true, all you have to do it lift them up, they are so light that it's all run from onboard chips that don't output much heat at all. A lot of people don't seem to realise just how far technology in consoles has come.

An Xbox360 runs all the same stuff a PC does in a case a fraction of the size, of course it will be louder and hotter inside.

NokkonWud
"As for the older consoles not working? I went through 3 or 4 (I can’t really remember now) Sony Playstations, 1 Sony Playstation 2, 1 Sega Dreamcast and 1 NES, thankfully all my other consoles worked."

Ahh, I skipped the playstation generation so I've no idea about those mate. The older school pre N64 cart based consoles were incredibly reliable though, and I see a lot of people mentioning those alongside 360 failures, which is a pointless thing to do really. Those things were completely simple build wise and no where near as complicated obviously.

Hi I have gone through two 360's in 3 months over here. I bought mine first one in April and that lasted a full month before giving me those rings of death.

A reppalencement arrived weeks later and during the end of June that died too of the same thing. Now they are sending me a new one and two games!

I am still sticking with the 360 though. It may have its cooling problems, but feature wise its packed with good stuff and the PS3 can't match it at all.

Well, like Kainz I'm still on my launch day model, but mine gets a lot more than 3 hours a day. I'd say it's probably near enough 1,500 hours usage, possibly more, probably slightly less, but regardless, it's worked brilliantly all this time.

Obviously I can't say there aren't problems because clearly there are, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, however, full credit to Microsoft for giving extra warranty and acknowledging an issue, my guess is it's just become financially viable for them to do such a thing.

Alright geeze!
How goes man? I agree it's good move by MS but its not made me any happier by the fact that I'm on my 3rd 360 in just 2 months.

So as you know:
Launch day 360 died in May 2007
Got it repaired by MS for £90, which died in June
Got a refurb unit a week later, and that died 2 weeks later in June
and now I've been given another unit which seems to be going good so far, and is a silent model like yours too :)
