They be stealing meh mail!
So the Royal Mail postal workers are on strike once again over pay and job cuts. Who knows how long this will go on for, but there’s one obvious benefit to all of this. No Bills! That’s right, no sodding utility bills that appear just as I am about to go on a mad shopping spree!
However, it never works out that way does it?
After work last night, I had a client to visit who needed her PC looked at. This woman hadn’t somehow noticed that Internet Explorer had mysteriously grown another 10 toolbars and her web speed was equivalent to a 2400 baud modem powered desktop computer from 1989 however that is another story altogether.
As I was journeying home after finishing my PC duties I thought about the gas, electricity, and phone bills (that were due any day now) that would be delayed by this strike. "Rawr! Time to go ahead with my plans to blow a couple o hundred quid on some clothes" I thought to myself. I had it all planned. I’ll raid River Island and Next on Saturday, and then head into London later that day for some stupidly expensive wintery clothes that I do like.
I stepped through the front door, and there was the Phone, Gas, and Electricity bill waiting for me. I haven’t had ANY mail, or goods delivered for bloody days but the flamin bills still manage to arrive! Do the companies go and post bills themselves under these circumstances?! My weekend plans got shot to hell inside 10 seconds of walking through my front door.
