Assassins Creed and Mass Effect
Whilst I’ve been fighting off the Flu I’ve been barely physically well enough to play two of the console’s most recent and hugely hyped titles. Assassins Creed from Ubisoft, and Mass Effect from RPG giants Bioware. Assassin’s Creed is the result of years of hard work from the development team lead by the gorgeous Jade Raymond, and Mass Effect is a colossal Sci-Fi RPG set in the future. Both titles have been hugely hyped, and yours truly couldn’t wait for them.
Assassin’s Creed arrived with quite a mixed reception. A lot of early reviews gave it average ratings, much to everyones surprise citing it was too repetitive. When it arrived I was blown away. Gorgeous visuals and gameplay, with some slightly repetitive moments I do agree. Well they would be repetitive if gamers went about performing every mission in the same manner, I had no problem with this and took on every mission in a random manner. As a result I completely love the game. Killing people with such randomness has never been more fun!
Gears of War remains my No.1 360 title despite the fact that I’ve only played it’s single player campaign a handful of times. The superb storyline and history make the game a winner, and then come the terrific musical score and visuals. Well move over Gears, Mass Effect just blew you aside! Mass Effect has to be the most enjoyable RPG I have ever come across. In every department the title just excels and there is only small drawback to it, and that isn’t even the game’s fault.
I’ve spent most of this weekend playing Mass Effect and I’ve had an utter blast. I’m not even in to Sci-Fi RPG’s, I prefer Fantasy ones but those are just overdone. Sadly I feel that I am close to the it’s end now having put in 27 hours, although a lot of side missions remain. The storyline, whilst not original is extremely well realised and to back the game up the in-game Codex fills you in on the history of almost everything down to your weapons. As for the characters, well I’ve become really fond of one of them – as sad as it may seem.
Lastly, a lot of readers are probably wondering why I don’t do game reviews anymore. To tell the truth I just no longer have that spare time to do them. I have 3 partially unfinished reviews dating back to approx 9 months ago! Test Drive Unlimited, Ghost Recon 1 and Oblivion all lie unfinished. Life has just become too busy with my career and other things. However with the Xmas holidays coming up I’ll try and finish off a rather huge backlog of reviews.
I shall be reviewing Mass Effect and Assassins Creed asap this week though, well as soon as I discover what Tali has hidden under that suit…!

Lo Geeze!
This game is amazing. I can see why Big Jase bought a 360 for just this game alone lmao. I’m still stonked that they managed to fit so much gameplay into DVD9, kudos for that. I can see this game being even bigger in future
How far are you mate? Managed to finish it yet? I’m on that FarCry/Crysis looking level you told me about so I guess I’m not too far off? Cheers for giving me the heads up on the game geeze!
Alright matey!
Well I just finished it. Played for about an hour and a half from when I spoke to you. The ending is superb.
Yeah, I’m surprised at how they managed to get the data to fit because I originally predicted that the game would arrive on two discs. I balls’d up there.
I’m going to buy the book off Amazon now for a read. I still can’t believe Jase bought an elite just for the game lol. He’s going to love it anyhow.
Geeze! I finished it, and wow what an ending! We’re upto the point where our games can easily match Final Fantasy: Spirits Within for quality, well almost there.
I am probably going to play through it again with another char instead of using my exisiting one. I’m not sure yet.
What’s assasins creed like mate? Where’s your reviews lol?
I’ll have a review up by this weekend. Hopefully I can manage both. I’ve got the time to spare this weekend anyway.
Mass Effect is great ain’t it? I haven’t heard from Jase since he bought his 360 for the game lol. Quite sure he hasn’t put it down since he got the console though!
