Told you that you'd go back to XP!!!

I'll go to Vista again when it's SP2, frankly XP works like a dream once you've got it updated or have created an install disk with all the updates already applied :-)

I have had my fair share of troubles with Vista too, and often found myself asking why the hell am I using it.

The only reason I can come up with is it looks nice.

Hope you get your issues sorted out mate.

I am not much of a fan of the os just yet. Sure it looks nice but thats all most will see. Even the hardcore of vista fans have to admit that the os isn't as good as they originally hoped it would be.

Right now XP still does everything most users require and a hell of a lot quicker than Vista does in some cases. Our workplace began using Vista Business 2 months after its UK release but then reversed their plan because its just too much hassle because it sometimes has a mind of its own.

I just feel more in control of XP than Vista when I'm using either os.

I am sorry that you're having such bad luck with Vista. Back in August 07, I had problems with Vista, but they were minor in comparison to yours. I ended up going back to XP Professional until just recently. I also traced a majority of my former installation issues being caused by a bad stick of memory. Dang, I love Memtest86 ;) Since I had already blew my XP back on, I stuck with it for a while.

On February 22nd, I managed to slipstream the RTM Release of Service Pack 1 for Vista x64 onto an install DVD (I have an MSDN Subscription).

It took no longer than 20 minutes to install Windows Vista Enterprise x64 on my machine, and I haven't looked back to XP since. Everything works, and works quite beautifully. I haven't had to reboot since February 23rd, and that was only after I installed Nero; which required a reboot to complete the installation. Other than that, no reboots. My system is blazingly fast, too. Games run faster. Applications scream. Not bad for an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600 w/ 4 Gb RAM, eh?

Hopefully, your experience will get better in time. I think Vista will get better, as it matures. Most operating systems do have the unfortunate "shakedown," which annoys me.
