Hugely Upset

I’ve not posted any updates recently because I’ve been hugely upset by a certain event in my life. It has left me rather depressed and upset as a result. I am quite sickened by the despicable manners of some people not to mention their jealous undertones…

Big Brother 2007 has landed

3 months of catfighting, backstabbing, and gurls!

Big Brother 2007 started a few days ago, and once again succeeded in surprising the nation as 11 females went in and not a single male. No problem there except if this lot represent modern UK society, we as nation are bloody screwed in more ways then one. First off into the house were two 18yr old twins Sam & Amanda, who cannot stop giggling, screaming, holding each other and a variety of other annoying things, which seemed to result in a lot of people reaching for the mute button on their remotes. These two look look like they’ll easily crack - give it a week tops.

There’s Charley, some ugly thing that is so over herself that she’s the hot favourite to be voted out first. She’s from East London, and the type of girl who hangs out at celeb joints hoping to pick up a rich footballer. She ‘does not work’ and wants lot of cash, and think’s she’s beautiful. I want to run her over with the nearest bus already. The others housemates are far from normal either. There’s Carole, a 53yr old Health Worker who I really like. She’s feisty and has attitude. I reckon Carole could be the person to keep everyone in check in that demented household. Then there’s Tracey, I’m not sure what that’s all about but I am already warming to her despite the fact that she looks like Freddy Kreuger. She has made me laugh quite a bit though!

Oh, I forgot to mention the lovely Chanelle, I liked her for 10seconds until she mentioned that her idol is Victoria Beckham who she aspires to. Why do girls of this generation aspire to a bloody plastic, frowning stick insect? Come off it, she can’t sing, her family is loaded and she’s shacked up with a footballer! She’s couldn’t even sing when she was in the spice girls, and girls actually think she’s cool? Noes!!

My new HDTV arrives

It’s a bit large…

Yesterday I took delivery of my new 32" Samsung LE32R87BDX (big mouthful thar) HDTV. I have been agonising over purchasing a HD screen for ages now but finally jumped on board after the recent purchase of my Xbox 360’s HD-DVD player. While I was day-dreaming away in my office at work, the delivery man phones up saying that he’s just delivered it at my home. I almost got knocked out by an Australian backpacker as I jumped onto the bus and dashed home…to find the biggest box I’ve seen in ages. Took me a solid 10 minutes just to drag the box up to my room!

Back injury woes

Down but not out!

Arf! For the past week I’ve been suffering from a nasty back injury, the result of pushing myself too hard in the gym I would guess. Thankfully the pain is beginning to show signs of subsiding. It’s so surprising when something like this hits you out of the blue, especially when you very rarely have injuries or sicknesses of any kind. Me? Suffice to say that I haven’t seen my doctor in 15yrs, since I was 16yrs old to be precise. I am the type who hates medicine of any kind, preferring to let any pain subside naturally, and having said that I was almost persuaded by friends to visit my local doctor this morning. Yet this morning upon waking up, it had almost vanished!

So I spent a solid two hours at the gym this morning literally burning up because I hadn’t been in so long and for the next few days I will feel like an 80yr old OAP as a result. To make things worse, today here in London has been blisteringly hot. I rarely feel the summer heat but today has been FARKING HOT! I arrived home an hour ago and my normally cool room is a sweltering 29.4c! Summer is here baby!

Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI and Spyware

How the hell did I miss this? Geroff moi land!

Right, let me just state that I have been using Paint Shop Pro for image editing since the Windows 3.1 days, back when it was a small feature packed app that could fit on a single high density floppy disk. Over the years I have always stuck with this product through all the operating systems that Microsoft have churned out for the consumer. I love PSP and was concerned when Corel acquired Jasc Software, creators of PSP. Merging is baaad folks - just look at AMD/ATI.

Anyway, my old version of PSP wouldn’t work with the newly installed Windows Vista, so I had to upgrade. Had to purchase the bugger too as I couldn’t upgrade. Now I’ve got to state that, without sounding like an arse I always make sure my PC’s are ultra secure and I observe every little file that lands on them, however I have missed one, which I stumbled across by accident when I was examining processes as my new Vista install has been rather slow web speed wise over the past few days.

When practical jokes backfire…

Erk!

Now we all like to play little pranks or jokes at friends at work don’t we? Course we do! My last one involving me squirting shaving foam into a colleagues lunchtime jogging trainers was a classic. However my most recent one kind of backfired in a hilarious way.

Lets call the victim Timmay! Now Timmay and myself have been doing practical jokes against each other for sometime now. He has just replaced the mouse on my desk at work with a 3-Button one!  Now, last week he returned from his three day holiday very red faced and rather angry at me. I shall now explain. Before Timmay went on his holiday, I used some masking tape to fasten a small sheet of paper with "KICK MEH!"  written on it, on to his suit jacket. I did this safely assuming that he would go shopping at the end of the day like he always does.

Timmay went to a funeral…

Lost in Translation

Accidental relationships can be touching

This is probably the most beautiful, thought provoking film I’ve ever seen. It’s just so deep in so many ways. Myself and Taz once texted each other well over 80 odd times while watching this film when it aired on TV over here. We both loved the film and more recently I went through the same motions again with my girlfriend Deena, because it aired on TV once again during this past weekend. Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson positively shine, and their on-screen chemistry is just delightful. Bill Murray is the main star though; he is just the adlib master and is such an underrated actor in this day and age.

For those who haven’t seen this masterpiece, I’ll give you a lowdown. The film details an accidental relationship between two lonely souls. Bob (Bill Murray) is an international actor who is in Tokyo filming various ads for a whiskey company. Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) is accompanying her husband who is a photographer, on a business trip. However she is isolated and out of touch with her surroundings, she feels horribly lost. Bob is increasingly frustrated and also lost. Both characters are in a completely new world and end up turning to each other for comfort.

Their first encounters are rather casual, in a bar at first, then on an elevator. However over the course of 48hrs they begin to seek each other out and an incredibly intense bond between the two develops. Eventually they reach the point where they both spend a lot of time together sharing deep conversations and finding out about one another. The energy between the two is magic.

Easter goodness / Am I an alchy??

Shrleley not!

I trust everyone had a lovely Easter break? Over here in good old UK, London the weather was top dogs, and it was quite hot! Needless to say it was the perfect weather for….drinking lotsa booze! Now my girlfriend spent the weekend with me, as she was avoiding relatives who came to stay round hers. She then had the gall to say that I am becoming a fat (I’m 10.5 stones woman!), drunken alcoholic. Now this rather cruel outburst came when I was smashed out of my head trying to hold an MSN conversation with three people at once.

My amazingly nippy typing skills that would put any secretary to shame became a shambolic mess after gulping down 2x 1ltr bottles of Baileys (Caramel + Mint yum!), and 8x bottles of Kronenberg 1664 - My favourite beer. Now according to her, I am a fat, beer swigging bar-steward! Charming! I even had to take an Alchy Test…which I never did because I could not focus on the words yay! I am not allowed to go near alcohol for a week now…

Oh by the way, the day before Good Friday (6th April for you non UK’ers) I got a lovely Easter egg from me boss - A tiny Cadburys Creme Egg! Cheeky goit dropped them onto our office desks at lunchtime, while everyone was out for lunch and then legged it home on a half day holiday! I wasn’t happy one bit. I wanted more! So today after returning from the Easter break, I whinged in a way that would make PR proud! After lunchtime, I found a lovely Easter egg (see inset pic) sitting on my desk!

It’s that time of the year again folks!

Oh and to everyone out there, have a romantic valentines :P

Note: I am not to blame if you get dumped. If she does love you though, she’ll see the funny side of it….or not.

Life after 2006

So far I have…

  • Moved this blog to a new host
  • Rebuilt my PC in to a wee overclocked beastie
  • Installed Wordpress 2.1 & K2
  • Installed Windows Vista Home Premium
  • Got myself one of those girlfriend things (not the inflatable type)
  • Cried as Lotus Organiser 6.1 wouldn’t work (does now)

To say I’ve been busy is an understatement. Given the circumstances I think I’ve managed to juggle events in my career and my social life rather well! Winter over here in the UK isn’t going as well as I’d hoped. I had been expecting a ton of snow to drop between Jan and March 2007, so far we’ve seen one full night of snow, which saw the UK grind to a halt as about a foot of snow hit London alone. Man, when I was a child the snow was so deep that they’d be waist height to me, and things were fine. Obviously the UK wasn’t as crowded back then, but you get what I mean. Right now as I type this, it’s sunny out there with a chilly ice cold wind. Even my father’s flowers have started blooming - they’re confused too!

I’ve had a few emails asking if I’ve ‘Died yet?’, so no I haven’t done so. I’ve just been rather busy that’s all. I’m currently doing a small (well it was meant to be) write up on Windows Vista’s key features that newbie’s can expect to encounter. Now I was meant to finish it this weekend but half of it has been cleverly left at work! Lastly, I met the lovely Deena at my local gym two weeks ago and we’ve been dating since then :-) Valentine’s is coming up people…get those Tesco’s cards on standby…
