The screen on my M1530 wasn’t perfect by my standards. Don’t get me wrong, it was beautiful to look at, and the viewing angles were superb when viewed on from the sides, however looking at the screen from above or below causes the colours on the screen to gradually inverse. The brightness levels is my main complaint here - the screen just isn’t too bright at its maximum level, even though it is perfectly useable. Aside from that complaint I have no other issues with the screen. It looks great, has good viewing angles and had no dead pixels.
In addition to this, the M1530 has a 2.0MP web camera, which is located at the top of the screen, with a blue activity LED beside it. Quality of the camera is surprisingly very good.
Ports and Connectivity
There are ports scattered all over the M1530 and the range of connectivity is extremely good.
Front View: Dual Headphone Out, Microphone in and integrated 8-in-1 Memory Card Reader (SD, SDIO, MMC, Memory Stick/Pro, XD, Hi Speed SD, Hi Density SD)
Left View: AC/DC Power jack, Twin USB ports, VGA out, Ethernet/LAN, HDMI and Firewire
Right View: ExpressCard slot, WiFi on/off switch, WiFi catcher, DVD Slot loading drive, USB port, S-Video out and Kensington lock slot
The HDMI port is a great addition for users who want to a solid digital output to their HDTV’s. S-Video compliments this for older TV’s. You can’t really go wrong with three USB ports and dual headphone sockets, the latter of which surprised me greatly. Even more surprising was the fact that there was a 2GB SD card already in the card reader slot upon unpacking the machine.
